manual setting
The manual setting of the home gateway is suitable for the case where the number of computers is relatively small and the TCP/IP parameters are basically unchanged, for example, there are only a few to a dozen computers. Because this method requires setting up a “home gateway” on each computer connected to the network, it is very laborious. Once the IP address of the default gateway has to be modified due to migration, etc., it will cause great trouble to the network management, so recommended use.
auto configuration
The automatic setting is to use the DHCP server to automatically assign IP addresses, subnet masks and default gateways to computers on the network. The advantage of this is that once the default gateway of the network changes, as long as the default gateway settings in the DHCP server are changed, all computers on the network get the IP address of the new default gateway. This method is suitable for networks with large network sizes and possible changes in TCP/IP parameters.
The deployment of the gateway device in the home network includes two aspects, one is a physical connection configuration, and the other is an initial service configuration. At present, almost all gateway devices support WLAN wireless connection, and management channel parameters and management access parameters can be pre-configured when the gateway is shipped from the factory, and other service parameters can be remotely configured and opened. Therefore, the configuration of the gateway device can basically achieve zero-touch configuration, only the business hall issues the gateway device to the customer, the customer homes to connect the telephone line, and connects to other specific terminal devices (such as set-top boxes, telephones, etc.) according to the port indication, and the device is powered. After the gateway device is deployed, the gateway management system performs remote service configuration and provisioning for the home gateway.
